CITY PULLULATION
Stair mural work in 구의동 Gu-ui-Dong
CITY PULLULATION
A city revival
This stair mural work was commissioned and sponsored by a client who owns a commercial building hoping to rejuvenate the building-scape with vibrance and growth also in anticipation to increase visits of customers and users.
The staircase I was requested to renovate had been a busy access point to the residents near this commercial building but it never has been noticeable and people also were having trouble stepping on stairs at night as the stairs hard to locate for their murky shade.
My vision for this mural work was to provide brightness and refreshment for every user of these stairs. No longer would these stairs be a place of caution and murkiness, but a symbol of growth and revival.
DESIGN PLAN
Capturing growth and rejuvenation
PROCESS
Assistance by family members--Yewon, my aunt, grandma and uncle.
ADDITIONAL MURAL WORK
Homage to Piet Mondrian
Close to finishing City Pullution, I was requested to complete another mural work in respect of Piet Mondrian's work. Again, vibrancy was the key element as an addition to this building-scape, so impactful and primary colors were chosen for the design.
FINAL RESULT
Side note: Due to my travel plans to leave Korea in less than a week and a half, all work was done in less than a week. Given how short the entire process had to be, I hope to revisit the mural one day to add more detailing and for maintenance.
